BEST MOTOR I HAVE EVER OWNED

Don't worry about being able to turn it over by hand or not. I can turn mine over by hand when in the car cold frm he flywheel at 1 gallon, but I still have some mechanical pinch when cold and the plug is out. It runs 9:30-10:00 @220 with a ton of power, and that is with the 7mm in. I need to throw a 6.5 or 6.0 in it to see what happens.

If it is running strong, idles well and has good smoke then you are allright. The hottest my engine has ever been is 261 and that was after a 20 min main last night, hotter then I want but it will not hurt anything. If you get into the 275-300 range you are risking damage. Most O.S. engines I have ever messed with (a LOT of them at my track) do not hold their compression like a Nova does. They still run well though.....

Dont be scaaared to put some heat into it. i would just run it w/ stock shims or take out the smallest one later on...my 1 st ninja really came alive about 1 1/2 gallons into it... i run all 3 shims w/ 30% my friend has my 1 st one in his mbx6T and the
ninja throws that thing around like a rag doll.....

I am running Byrons GEN 2 30% with the 3 shoe aluminum clutch and 1.0 springs and the P3 for the plug. temps were hot this past weekend (104 on race day sat) and i tried a P4 but the motor just didnt like it too much so i went back with the P3

i finally quit using the heat gun to start my motor and it gets hotter on it's own and runs better. go figure.

how do you figure it runs better without the heat from a heat gun? all the use of a heat gun does is allows the sleeve to expand before the initial start of the motor allowing for less stress on the CONROD. until i have about 3+ gallons on my ninja i will continue to use the heat gun. it is also smart to not start tuning an engine until the motor and chassis are completely up to temp so again here using a heat gun allows you to get to this process faster.
just my .02

Hmm, we're running the same set up and got the same results. That's interesting.

It didn't have anything to do with the heat gun, I use one of the engine warmers that mark at powerhouse sells. Use it everytime I start any motor no matter how many gallons are on the motor. Used it this weekend to start my jx that has just over a gallon of sidewinder worlds 30 on it and the motor ran great its in a 2.0T ran a 20 min main pitted once on a med to tight track and it came of just over 220 and its a little rich on the top and little lean on the mid-Its got the eb button and I am imprrssed so far and that's with an 8mm stack
