Default starter box problems??

So I bought a used starter box and brought it home it had some charge but it was not dead yet, it had a 12V gel cell so I charged it over night and tried to start my buggy, it died with in a couple minutes so I threw it back on the charger all day got home and at first it seemed like it was fully charged and it also died with in a minute....so I went to the hobby shop and bought 2 stick packs wired them to get 14V and put them on the charger then wired up the starter box and I'll be damned if it does dot go dead within a couple of minutes ...so I charge them again and lone be hold their dead again in a couple of minutes

I know there is not a short
I know the packs are bran new and fully charged
I have looked everything over and over

PLEASE HELP THIS IS BUMING ME OUT

Possibly the actual starter box motor.

Does the box have a powerpanel on it?
If so try disconnecting the panel.

Also check inside the box where the contacts are there's a spring and brass washer and 2 contacts that send juice to the engne when the top of the box is depresses and the circut is completed. This is the weak spot on most boxes

+1 to Frank's statement.

Maybe the batteries are okay, and the physical switch is failing.

Happened on my Ofna. Replaced w/a cheap metal washer; good as new.
