Im glad to see that you guys are distributing the new Alfa engines. I was impressed on Danny Choi's finish with this engine last weekend. I will be looking into one of these soon, and will most definitely be contacting you guys about one.

Keep it up!

Danny Flores
Thanks Danny!

Yes we were impressed with it's performance in Dani's buggy as well as Tony Rosales' Truggy.

He knows my parents mostly. Both my parents were drag racers back in the day. 55-72

My Mom got to know Don after her first husband was killed at Lions in 66. Don and Pat were a huge help for her as were many other "names" of the day as you could imagine.

OK Y'all.

First impressions of the Alpha Plus engines.

Upon tear down I noticed the same on both of the engines I'm working on so when I'm explaining I mean for both.

Tear down went smooth. I noticed tight tolerances on all machine work and assembly was done for these engines to be ready to be fired up for break in.

Pulling the cooling head off I noticed the head bolts are a whopping 3.5mm (NICE!) These will help in keeping things sealed very well.

Upon removing the back plate I noticed here that the oring was actually tight enough to hamper removal. (another nice! as this will help with sealing)

Upon further inspection the engine is well lubed in a very light machine oil. Most engines I've seen you are lucky to have anything other than bearings lubed. Also in that oil and throughout the case and parts I found no slag, slivers or shavings of any kind. (Something you usually find here or there in any engine) and the cases are bur and flash free.

Removal of the carburetor was also a bit tight even with the pinch bolt removed. I found no body distortion and the slide is so free youd swear it was on roller bearings. The boot is average but seems thick enough not to tear under normal conditions. It fit tight around the carb and the slide.

The carb throat has double orings so one bit of advice if you pull one off make sure you push it all the way down to seat it in the second o ring.

Another huge plus I found was their use of SKF (Italian made) bearings!
The front bearing is actually double sealed. (Another NICE!) for sealing purposes.

Some cool features I found also were the milling of the case, in the sleeve bore, right behind the locater pin for the sleeve. This IMO was to relieve any swell that may happen to the case bore when the locator pin is pressed in.

Also the engine comes with header gasket, dust plugs, a flywheel collet and a bolt in the crank snout for the clutch. AND...... comes with 7 (blue), 8 (green, in engine) & 9mm (red) inserts

Going through this stage I give it 5 out of 5 "Track" Stars.

Hey your camera is almost as fuzzy as mine!

I'm glad you posted all that Jimmy I noticed a lot of nice stuff when I tore down the F850 but I think more people would listen to someone who works with engines all the time than me.

My iPhone camera doesn't get too close. My wife keeps the good camera in the "Horse bag" just incase he does something "cute".....

Seeing is believing and so far I like what I see.
