Hudy engine break-in stand alternatives?

COOL THANKS Jed the Geezer that is the kind of Video i have been looking for. I just wont to see how other people brake in motors on the Brake In Stands i am gone to get a motor stand in the next couple of weeks and would like to see how to do it i have all ways done it in my buggy but it takes up to much time having to drive the buggy around and be with it all the time with a stand i can just put in on there and do other stuf as it runs.

RD Logics also makes a break-in bench and sells
the parts for it. You can buy the prop, prop adapter
and prop nut from them and build your own bench,

I have a RD Logics break in bench that I used twice if someone wants to try one $75.00 shipped in the U.S. works great just prefer old style break in.

Certainly not the most exciting video I've ever done 
... Obviously there are lots of ways to do this ... this is just mine ... main thing is to preheat it and keep it up between 180 and 200 degrees during each tank ... nice and easy idle to seat the bearings and keep it good and rich ... I will usually run between 8 and 12 tanks on the bench depending on time (if it's needed in a truck or I have another one waiting to break in) ... in this case I have another engine to break in before Alabama (can't wait) so the 8 tanks will do the O.S. ... whole vid is just under 3 minutes ... I read from someone on here (I think) commenting that they wanted to get a bench so they could work on other things while the engine ran but you will see the way I do it I could only walk away for the first 10 minutes ... I am always standing over the engine while it's running

edit** I should also add that the bench still only serves as the initial breakin on the engine ... it still continues to be run easy for a tank or two (no long WOT runs) after going in a truck unless the sleeve has been fitted (thank you Clockwork Racing) ... but within a few tanks I'm tweaking the needles and getting it race ready and until I find a full engine sponsor I will always lean on the side of rich (pardon the play on words)

My breakin method consists of idling 2 tanks, heat cycling maybe 2 more in the driveway. I then start leaning it closer to a race tune over maybe a tank & a half more. I don't use more than a bottle of fuel tops. Anyone else?!

Looks like the compatition heat warmer works good at keeping the temps up?

It does BUT there are times if it is a bit cool out that the temps will still try to drop below 180 even with the Competition Heat (combination of the wind from the prop and the fact things are so rich) ... I have had to point a heat gun at the block for a few seconds to get the temps back up where I like

cut out cardboard and to fit behind the cab big enough to block the wind from the prop. Thats what Alan Burton told me to do and it would great. It really help with keeping the temps up

I like that home made break in stand. Post up some pics for those that are think of making there own and get an idea of what and how to make it. Great job on that break in stand.
