jazz i had every intention of following the heat cycle method. But i still had to get it to idle before i could do anything. I got it right warmed up and running good for a full tank and the starter box crapped out (i thought it was charged)

Another question. i know when i run rich the oil collects and you can dump it out the pipe. Well i have my buggy sitting on my work bench and i turned it and a shitload of oil came out (with some of the trash) Now i had it running as rich as i could just about get it and keep it running (spitting fuel and lots of smoke) But is it normal for this much oil to collect?? And i know now that this is the reason i probably had a hard time getting it running right?

the "break in bible" says nothing of a heat gun or preheating or wraping the head. I still do it, but if the "bible" nor the manual says to preheat it, why is it a must? I guess word of mouth or it is just understood.

Ok i know the answer. Just busting balls to make myself feel better.

Tomorrow i will lean it out a couple turns (preheated of course), and run it at mid throtle increasing time. I will do this for the rest of my liter of fuel.

uuhh, (sigh). I did not plan on it this way. I was positive it would go by the book. With the expierience i have i though i new better, and it would go like it was supposed too.

bed time for me. I have to get up and play!!!

All of excess oil is normal. That is what it is supposed to do is help wash out all the garbage breaking off during break in. This kind of reminds me of a story. I was pulling up at my local indoor track for some sunday practice. A buddy of mine came out to the parking lot to help me carry my gear in, he grabs my buggy and all the excess oil spills out of the pipe on his white shoes(I run odonnell fuel) and he says "man! thats nasty! it looks like baby puke!" I laughed the whole way in the hobby shop!

the only time I heat anything up is when my box cant turn it over, its not something you must do or you will kill your motor. As long as its well primed your not really going to hurt anything.

Is the ninja carb not composite like most novarossi's? (So they don't got too hot incase of a flame out they are easy to restart). Does a novarossi carb fit into the Ninja (the OS verison one, the JX)?

I don't know how the carb would be any different from that ov your v-spec. They both use the 21J carb. It should tune exactly the same as the v-spec.

The OS/ninja carbs have a heat insulator sleeve around the base. This will keep the carb cool when running, but if you are heating the carb itself(heat gun), it will vapor lock.

You didn't do any damage to the engine by starting it cold once or twice. It is just a good idea to pre heat. Obviously not so much that the carb is vapor locking though.
