Default Leaky Nitro Bottles

Hello all,

I bought the OFNA bottle for two reeasons:

1) It was bigger than most I saw (650cc)
2) The rubber cap was attached to the bottle so you wouldn't lose it.

However, the advertising never mentioned that it leaked like crazy.

Does anyone have recommendations for bottles that don't leak? Ideally I would love to find one with #2 as well.

Thanks.

The associated one that came with my sc8 works great I think it's 500 cc it's nice and soft and no leaks but the cap is not attatched.
I also had a venom 500cc one and it was a straight piece of crap very stiff plastic and leaked everywhere.

make sure you don't leave fuel in the bottle with the cap on when in storage. If it gets left like this somewhere that heat will make it expand the seams will split and it will leak. I have more than one fuel bottle do this to me.

Put an O-ring inside the cap, I'll get you the O-ring size later after work. It fixed my problem.

Joey, that would be MOST helpful as I'm having the exact same leaking problem with this SAME bottle! It leaks around the top of the bottle where the filler spout attaches/screws on. No matter how hard you tighten it, the damn thing STILL LEAKS. Thanks for the help!!

Can some measure the "E" diameter on the bottle? Its the smallest diameter where the thread starts. I don't have the bottle here at work, but I can get you the O-ring size if i had the measurement.

This is what I'm talking about...

If you have overtightened it there is no way it will ever seal right without some sort of sealer.

I use that OFNA bottle too and I love it. I'm on my 2nd one as the first eventually split at the seam at the top.

I take a little shoe goo and put it on the threaded area and snug it down nice while its new and its been holding for this whole year so far.

That's a great idea also. The problem with the bottle is its LDPE material. You get these easy, fast squeeze for quick pitting. But the material is also way softer than normal fuel bottles that are HDPE material. The reason for the splitting is because the way the bottle molds are designed. Nothing you can do about that on your end.

Just to let you know that mold didn't come out of my shop!

Ive always had good luck with these Dynamite bottles. You cant remove teh spout but it doesnt leak and is soft enough that you can fill the whole bottle with suction.

Thanks for the ideas. I may try some plumbers goo around the lid to see if that fixes the problem.

I have tried an O ring, but I only have the gardener's type and it is too small.

I like the soft OFNA bottle with the blue aluminum spout, or the one with the orange plastic spout. The kyosho bottle also rock, Venom makes the worst fuel bottle I was given one with a venom body and refuse to use it.

I thought they were all the same until I received the O'Donnell bottle. Thick, smooth but flexy plastic Aluminum cap, adjustable, replaceable aluminum tube... two caps, one on the base works perfect to hold the glow plug igniter cover.

The best one I have seen is the old Losi bottle that you would actually seal the cap so you could not take it out and so it would not leak. Most people use that one at our track and it doesn't seem to have any problems. It is a softer bottle as well and makes it easier for filling.

Here is a link to the one I am talking about:
