Default OS SPEED PROBLEMS

i have an os speed with some problems. it has been flaming out excessively and i believe that is because it has an air leak at the carb the i found. not really the problem. the conrod is VERY sloppy where the bushing sits on the crank shaft. what problems could this cause besides the obvious of breaking apart inside the engine. could this be causing some of the flame out issues as well?

How old is the speed? How many gallons?

By the sounds of it, your front bearing is probably leaking. Sounds like you have enough wear and tear to do. I have 4 gallons on mine and it just started leaking, so I replaced it and now it is good to go. You might want to give that a shot.

Time for a rebuild by the sounds of it

I use blue max to seal a engine if i think its that, If it continues then try bearings but that rod might have been the problem if you have had problems just recently.....

If parts are wore out then time to replace them. I have had engine guys tell me to replace the front bearing every gallon or so. I replace them when they start leaking. But if the rod is slopy then it can't run right. It does not take much to flame these engines out. Rebuild it or replace the engine.

If your having flames outs and blowing plugs you dont have a airleak what you have is a stretched conrod and if you keep on running it you will drop the glow plug element and scortch the piston and sleeve which will cost you more in repairs .

when the plugs keep on bruning out you have this extra travel in the piston movement which will eventually hit the element of the glow plug causing glow plugs to fail and in time dropping the element through your engine causing all sorts of damage piston ,sleeve, and bearings

change the Rob before it to late .

Replace the rod and bearings. If you have not already done that once after break in, you haven't properly maintained the engine. If the carb is leaking, replace the leaky parts such as o-rings or the boot.
