thinking the motors shot!

this past weekend at our club race my motor cut off in the main and i could never get it started again. i can start it now but ONLY if i hit the trigger and givew it throttle, as soon as i let go and it idles, it cuts off. any ideas of what might be wrong? the compression is pretty bad also but wasnt bad at all before the race i went to. the motor only has 3 gallons through it and hasnt run over 240 EVER!

Have you changed out the glow plug. I would check that first.

try sealing the engine too

Did it hit it's breakin point and just need to be re-tuned?

Think you should sell it. I'll take it off your hands for cheap
Seriously sounds like a tuning issue though..if you said it dies when it gets hot I would think otherwise. Usually that's a compression issue. Idle up and see where you get. Also you might have to fumble with the low end.

check plug, replace if bad , turn your idle up to get it running and retune the engine .

its leaking oil and gas out of the bottom of the head and going up the button and leaking out..would that be a busted shim?? or a button issue?

slayyer 08-06-2009 05:25 PM

BUMP, any help?????? would be greatly aprecieted!

If it still has some commpresstion? tear it down, clean it up, seal it up, re-set it to break-in settings and go. Take a close look at the o-rings on the needles, and fresh fuel lines, new glo-plug, and you should be all set. Or just break out 2-3 hundred and buy a new one. Me, I always go cheep first, then blow the flow. Or you could send it to one of the motor guys on here and let them do it.:tire::tire:

Have you checked to make sure they are tight? Screws do find away to come loose.
