yea i know how to take a motor apart. you have to know how to do that! i cleaned it all up and now i got it to idle!

any btw reggie, for my motor i have, i run it 230-240 becuase the manuel says dont run it over 250..

for the 3/3? if im not mistaken your not in risk unless you run past 275-280 and if the motor runs good and has a good trail of smoke down worry about the temp tim roberts says he runs his 3.3 some time on a hot day at 300 but its good so dont worry about the temp bro it can handle more than that

I would actually guess it as a couple things.
sounds like the temps came up (although 240 isnt bad) due to the loose head bolt.
the idle drop could have been to the heat most of the time when a motor warms up the idle drops some.. or also could have been from a dirty air filter, that will also cause the idle to drop.. typically if you run a motor for a good qualifyer and then set the idle you should be good for a loooong time before having to change that..
just my opinion anyway.
