Default Mbx6 Fuel Tank

Has anyone had issues with the tank? I had air bubbles all this past Saturday and my car would shut off very easily once it flip over and was turned back over. I feel like it was the tank as it got better when i put another tank on it when i got home and simulated flipping the car over. Just trying to figure out if im the only one having the issue.

I put in a different engine today and everything was great for the first couple of tanks and then...same story as you. Additionally, at about the half tank point I got a lean bog and the engine would die. At first i though the tune was way off so I messed with it a bit but nothing seemed to help. From full tank to about half it ran great until just past the half tank point. Remembering I had a brand new tank in my spares bin, I swapped it out and the problem went away. There was nothing conspicuously wrong with the tank I removed so I can't tell what went wrong with it. I read another thread where someone put an MBX5 tank on the MBX6. He didn't say if he had to modify anything to get it to fit.

Its a problem, I know of a couple guys with issues in the buggy. I know they are modding the tanks to fix it.

Why make a thread about this? These product smear threads are what gives these forums a bad reputation.

There are 1000's of these cars out there, this thread is the only place I've ever heard of a "problem" with the tank. If yours has a leak, replace it. Once in a while all cars have a flawed part that got through QC, not a big deal.

I have raced with several MBX6's that turtle. They did not flame, ( I sure wish they would have) I have not seen any issues racin them, they are formidable opponents...even if they lose allot..

i have a mbx6 and my car would only stall if i was flipped over for a while then hit the gas once unflipped. Or during a pit stop and the tank was overfilled or something. i put in a longer pressure line and the problems disappeared. Now i am running about 7 inches of pressure line. hope this helps.

Because this is how product-wide issues come to light (if there are any) and how, if there is a solution, that solution is also disseminated. If everyone who had a problem sat in complete isolation, the determination as to whether there is really a problem with the product or they just had an isolated issue would not get resolved.

Examples:

RC8 - Some had bad fuel tanks (translucent or white - don't remember which one)
Losi 8B - Killed throttle servos. A workaround was developed and published.
D8 - Axles broke. Not everyone but some. Hotbodies re-designed them and all is much better now.

FWIW, I don't think the original poster is participating in product smearing but simply trying to find an answer to his problem.

Several local guys have had issues with their MBX6 tanks also, word is there is a problem with the fuel pickup.

There are a couple of posts on SGRID concerning tank issues so it's not just here.
