Default BYRONS FUEL

I recently heard that Byrons is going back to their original formula(Hobby Shop Gold) and axing the Gen 2. Or keeping the name Gen 2 and using the original blend. Just wondering if true or not

My LHS ran out of the 30% Gen2 Race (11% lube) fuel and I tried the 30% Gen2 Pro (9% lube)fuel. The Pro fuel give me a little more performance but I wonder how hard it is on my engine.

I would be interested to hear which Byrons fuel everyone uses for racing?

Actually any oil content over 9% isn't of any benefit to you cars engine. in the long run, your engine won't suffer the slightest bit.

I've always ran Byrons...right now I'm running Gen 2 20%.The track I race at is tight and technical.A couple of buddies use 30% but don't really see any benefit to it....I'm just as fast on the 20%

actually the higher the nitro %age, the cooler your engine will run. Some engine Guru told me that, he looked pretty believable, so I took it as a fact.

our hobby shop that carried it around here stopped having it. so i'm mad cause i would have to order 4 gallons which would take me 4 years (or so) to get through. i loved that stuff. i've started using sidewinder 30% with 12% lube and i'm not totally sold on it yet.

byrons gen2 ....best fuel period ...i dont believe at the club level most of us race at ...that i personally need pro driver gen2 ...i would rather have the extra 2%oil ....i run byrons gen2 race 3000 ....30% ...never had a problem or issue that i could relate back to the fuel ..its as good as it gets ...the only other fuel ive considered running but have not run is sidewinder pro race ..i feel its as good as byrons ..alot of people locally run it and have good things to say ...

I think your mistaken if you have an engine tuned for 20% & switch to 30% your engine will run hotter & you would have to richen it up this applies to glow plugs as well running a colder plug & then switching to a hotter plug will give you the same results & running less nitro will give you more runtime
more oil it runs cooler I run 20% GEN2 on 1/8th Onroad & 20% in Off-road & just a fast & faster than guys running 30% & if needed I go as high as 25%
I use the temp gun as a range & do not tune against the temp but tune on performance every engine is different

An idea. Find some peeps at the track that like it and all throw in for the case.

There seem to be a lot of people running 20% nitro. I never really tried it. I guess I will have to pick up a gal and give it a try.

I agree that Byrons is the best!

Yes if you go from 20 to 30 without touching the needles and shims, it will run hotter because it is running too lean. Nitro carries oxygen with it, allowing more fuel to be burned, thus requiring a richer mixture. Also, nitro's lower octane rating will effectively advance the ignition timing, requiring a colder plug or lower compression (adding a shim). Once properly re-tuned and set-up, the increased amount of fuel and oil going through the motor will often result in lower temps. To see this effect requires ideal for performance tuning with both fuels in the same weather conditions of course, real world circumstances will not always match this theoretical condition.
