Can anyone give me advice

Ive been haveing trouble tuning my savagez 4.6 as of late.Had the engine apart a to clean it last week and now Iam chasing a tune like a dog chases his tail. Its acting like it has an air leak, starts fine, tunes good then it starts acting up,stalls out of no were has a ton of power one minute not the next.So I tore the engine out of the kit to start checking for air leaks.none, eninge had been sealed in the first place, new fuel line tank seal is perfect, carb sealed ,front bearing was dry.So I took the carb of to check it over and noticed inside the case port that the carb sits in that the case itself has a few nics in the leading edge of the port,so the crankshaft does not seem to get a good seal after it closes, would this cause tuning issues?I would think it would effect everything no?The engine woould be getting air and fuel when it shouldnt be and the engine no matter what the tune seems to be puking fuel out of the pipe and even when the plug had good colour to it its still very wet.Any advice, direction, suggestion I would love to hear

P.s I dont know when those nics got in the case or how,but Iam sure it was me,some how, some way.
