Default Recommended Temperature Gun

Hello all,

My temperature gauge just died and I am looking for a new one now. I guess the best one is the Exergen, then the Raytech in the middle and then some of the O'Donnel/Losi/$40 jobs.

Please tell me I really don't need to buy the $250 one. Thanks.

And for those who can tune by sound, feel or spiritual intervention :-P~~~~

I'm not one of them and need some help.

i use a ryobi infrared temp gun. its the best bang for your buck. you can get it at lowes for $30 and will temp up to 600 degrees so you can use it for other things other than for R/C

IDK what to tell you I have had a gun similar to the raytech that was 30 degrees cold and sucked. I have gone through 2 odonnel guns and they work for awhile and then become inaccurate. I have had a losi tunner driver that worked excellent and I lost it and then the next losi was horrible very inconsistent. I see guys have descent luck with the duratrax model and also the tempgun PE-11. Thats the next gun I am trying out the PE-1 Besides the high priced exergen I think all the others are the same

ive had lots of issues with the OD guns....i have a PE-3 but the buttons are annoying easy to push so i normally fall back on my HPI gun which has always read within a few degrees of the Big dollar guns.

Never questioned that, but it is also 10 times more expensive than the PE1 and I don't think I got that great a deal at $25 shipped.

We'll see how it goes with the PE1.

Thanks guys.

I have been looking for a temp gun myself, just using the spit method for now.

Went to my local hobby shop and they only stock one (forgot to get the brand) it was $90 which I thought was a bit on the expensive side so thought nah ill wait for a cheaper one.

Think I might check out whats on ebay but I least now I have some good brand names, thanks guys.
