Default os speed

i think my buddy might have the piston might be in backwards. not sure what its called but i know the piston goes all the way down on one side and has and arch on the other side. should the arch go towards the exhaust opening? or towards the carb?

also what is a good plug to run for this engine in extreme heat 110+

factory needle settings would also be very helpful if anyone has those laying around. Thanks

I have been running this engine for just over 2 months. I have about 3 gallons through it and I absolutly lovethis engine. It tunes easy pulls very very strong and has been one he'll of a great engine. Even when I ran it hot it leaned out in the middle of a 30 min main it didn't flameout and pulled my t 2.0 to a second place finish. It came in at 280 that time. I have replaced the front bearing and added an eb mods head button and that's it. Thos engne loves p3 plugs they were designed for the speed engines but when the temps get near or over 100 I witchto a p4. It changesghe tune slightly bit still let's the engine run well. As long ad I have good smoke I'm ok with the temp. It usually comes in from 220-260. My speed came set with the following: HSN 5 turns out LSN 4 1/4 turns out. I love this little engine it is worth every Pennie.

I use p3 only in all my OS's and never had a problem no matter where I am oh and FRANK, I got you - yesterday my OS clocked in at 310 yesterday. I was pushing it wide open everyone where The next race put fuel in it and kept on going.

Was it running lean like q high idle or anything or was it running normal. My pit guy told me it came in at 290 but I thought my temp gun fried du to being left in the heat. If it was running at 290 it was running well no lean signs at all. I was just curious how your speed was running...

It was running good, well it was screamin tho, the track has 3 straights that is over 175ft. and I was in second trying to get that last lap. I got the last lap and when i came in to the pits afterward - it was temped at 310 and this was with one of those 200 dollar temp gauges

the key for all you new guys - DBC remember that.
