What does a motorsaver air filter do that the stock one won't?

I have an OFNA Hyper 8 and the stock two stage air filter. I've heard good things about the motorsaver air filters, but what exactly would that do that my stock filter wouldn't?

Cost you 40.00. It may be a better filter element but if you properly clean and oil the stock one with the prefilter, you shouldn't have any problems. I run the stock filter/prefilter on my Kyosho's and never had any issues.

The motorsaver top will fall off,let filters fall out and your motor will suck all kinds of dirt and debris. Stocker won't do that.If you really want a filter check out the proline low profiles. Just my 2c.

+1 I forgot about that top! They do have a tendency to come out.

Agreed. I heard something about motorsavers making your car go faster or something because of more air entering the engine. Is this true?

gkn0315 07-19-2009 04:20 PM

that is not true

Unless the top comes off and the filter bounces out.

Do NOT use the proline low profile airfilter. Gauranteed to kill your engine.

I have been racing on-road and off-road nitro for over 10 years and IMO
MotorSavers air filters are the best. They allow your engine to breath better
because they have more suface area and they are very light weight. I bring
three filters to the track and usually use two, but if the track is very dusty I'll
use the third filter with the included foam pre-filter for the main. Like most things
in racing It's not fools-proof; you should take the time to put alittle oil on the
base and make sure the top is on properly. Alot of racers like to use the stock
filter and will use it for the whole day, maybe change the pre-filter. I think by
changing the entire filter you get better engine perfomance and mileage.
Hope this helps.

i have been using the proline low profile filter for about 6 months now, it has never failed me, seals great, never gotten a spec of dirt in and I run on some tracks that always seem to find a way to get dirt into the carb

I got 4 of these when they were released - these are great filters and I use them on just about every car i own except for the 8t.

They are great filters - sorry they did not work well for you

Sorry but motor savers suck....... stick with the dual foam filters and you should not have any problems - so - I dont even carry these anymore

Motorsaver filters are not good. The top can fall off but it can also suck dirt around the base. Trust me I found out the hard way.

Ive used the Proline filters without issue.

Let dirt into your motor.
