No chance. Track temps change, grip changes etc etc. Keep it open. Before you even start the day you have a very good idea usually of what tyres work. If not, you ask before the race day.

What if there was a limit on tread patterns and not compounds? For example each manufacturer could still produce tyres with a bow tie or crime fighter style tread but give them guidelines as to what they can change or not change. Just a thought. Devils Advocate BTW, I'm no expert.
