Default Recommended Fuel for a Losi 2.0 RTR 8ight Buggy

My LHS has Blue Thunder and Byrons. When I asked them, they said there was little to no difference and Blue Thunder was a little cheaper so I bought their 20% version.

As I have been reading through threads here, it seems like there is a bias towards Byrons and I just wanted to understand if it is better.

Thanks a lot.

Yea i would have went with byrons over blue thunder. Even though they are more expensive. it will be better in the long run.

I really wouldnt listen to yuor LHS anymore. Byron is FAR better than Blue Thunder. Didnt yo get the sport or race mix of BT? And what kind of oil/nitro did they have for Byron as it states oil and nitro % on the quart and gallon jug.

Thanks for the responses. I will go back and see if they exchange the unused Blue Thunder for Byrons.

As for the mix I really didn't look too hard. I will when I go back.

What should I be looking for? I haven't done anything with the engine yet. I am waiting for the GMK cozys to arrive before breaking it in.

Does it matter if I start with the 20% or the 30%. If I break it in with a %, should I continue to use the same percentage or can I switch and then retune the engine?

You will want the race ideally and maybe the pro driver. But anything is better than the RTR blends that have 16% oil in the Byron. Race is 12% oil and that would be perfect for a RTR engine.

I would run 20% with that RTR engine, but that is just me. You can always switch to 30 later on. You can switch very easily, just retune the engine. So again, the best fuel for that engine would be Byron 20% race 12% oil. As far as breakin, you will want to wrap the head with aluminum foil before you run it then heat it up with a hair dryer or better a heat gun. Use your temp gun and get it inbetween 200-230 for break in.

Thanks a lot for all your input. It seems Byron's fuel is the favourite and the better product.

Unfortunately, my LHS doesn't take back fuel so I have thrown it up on craigslist for $20. Hopefully I can get some money for it.

Will go out and pickup some Byrons in the next couple of days.

The motor that comes in the Losi 2.0 is a very good quality engine, you can run 30% in it without troubles. I reccomend going with Byrons ProDriver 2500 (25%) if they have it. If not go with Race 3000 (30%)

All I run these days is 30% Magic Blend from cold fusion fuels. Then again i am pretty dam biased, but this stuff rocks. Best thing to do is pick up a fuel at your LHS 20 or 30% if you are going to race and then run it till its gone.

been running nitrotane 30% also used for break in. this motor is a screamer and will run very well. have yet to flame out. using os a5 plugs due to about 20 left from the savage days. could not be happier with this kit. sold the radio and more then made up for all parts to full roller. losi rocks with this kit

I'm a Believer in cold fusion fuel, they make awesome fuel. Ive been running the 30% Majic formula( 11% oil) in my buggy and bashing trucks. If your worried about a low oil percentage they do make a 30% with a higher oil content and a verity of 20% fuels with different oil percentages.
