vspec or ninja???

  • I am getting a second engine for my mugen 6. I have a vspec and am thinking between a trinity extech, mugen ninja or another vspec. I love my vspec and the way it holds a tune. I read that the extech goes up to 44,000 rpm. And the ninja is a vspec and speed hybird that is very responsive with a very smooth power band.

    Is there a big difference between the ninja and vspec? If there is not that much of a performance gain i will just get another vspec. I am not to crazy about the trinity motor even though i heard it kicks ass. If i get another vspec or a ninja i will already have the pipes for it and possibly spares and expierience tunning it.

    So whats better ninja or vspec?

  • It really is personal preference. But in my experience the VZB feels a little like an on/off switch and the Ninja is a little smoother. Personally I like the on/off switch. That is why I run a Speed II and a VZB.

    Really hard to find a Ninja? I went to google shopping and found 5 people selling a Ninja .21 in stock. Research before you post.
  • If I was you I would go with the ninja I have a vspec and my friend has the ninja and that thing flat out halls both are great but the ninja seems to have a few less problems.

  • The ninja and v-spec are both awesome engines. Like already stated, the ninja has a smoother powerband but all the power of a v-spec. They both get about the same runtimes. The ninja WILL last longer because of the coated crank, speed con rod, and better case. You can't go wrong with either of them. Ninja isn't hard to find though. It's out of stock right now, but is there.

    I would suggest doing some research. There are plenty of threads on all of these engines.

    The pro mod is a cross between a v-spec and a speed. It has a speed crank, rod and bearings. Standard v-spec piston, sleeve, backplate, etc.. And a new drilled blue head. It should preform almost identical to a speed. But if I were you I would just go the whole way and get the speed. They can be found for around the price of the pro mod.

  • I would use the Ninja over a VSpec. The Ninja seems to handle topend power better than a VSpec and should last longer.

    That must be the aluminum head speed with the 21J carb. I would look for the speed worlds as it doesn't have the 21J carb.

    Uh, yeah it does. It has the same carb that the AL heads have had for over a year now. It's called the 21JS because it has the speed insert set. The worlds and AL are internally the same. Only differences are the drilled head, smaller insert set, and some engraving.

    The 21J carbs are the best carbs OS has. They are on all current v-specs, speeds, ninjas and 28xz's.
  • the speed has a hole in the con rod for oil passage and it has parralell rings on the piston to trap oil from the fuel to add compression + the chrome plated piston + coated and filled crank + ceramic bearing + a cooling head with 18 holes + better inserts and better crankcase design. It really sounds woth the 500$ Plus it looks absolutley killer! I might have to wait and hold out a week or two and get this puppy!!

    Almost every engine including the normal v-spec has the oil rings in the piston. The WC is the one with the drilled head. Like I said in my above post the normal AL speed and WC are almost the same. That speed you saw on ebay is basically the WC engine. Just so you know that you can spend $400 and have the same engine.
