Ideal charging settings for NiMH Rx packs
Hey guys - sorry if this isn't the exact right forum section to post this but I'm raicng tomorrow and charging now. This section, as we all know, gets 10x the looks the radio section does.
So I'm using the Duratrax Onyx 230 to charge my NiMH Rx packs. I have the OFNA 1700, the Stickman 2500 and the Reedy 1600.
Right now I've got it set at a .3A charge, 6.0V rate nominal voltage (per the battery), and peak sens. setting at 3mV/C, no timeout, 0mA trickle.
Right now I've got plenty of time to charge and I'm trying to maximize battery charge, output time and battery life. Would you guys recommend different settings? If so, what?
Racing tomorrow! TIA.

When I am charging my EP1500 the night before of the day of, I charge it at .5 amps. When I am at the track and have something to do, 1 amp. If I am in a time cruch 1C or 1.5 amps. I have the peak sens. set at 6mV and 50mA trickle. So, for the bigger batteries I would charge the Stickman at 2 amps or so, normally charging it at 1 amp. A little guage you can do, when you need to recharge it, put it on for 1 amp (any of them) and when the battery is done, feel how warm it is. It should be warm, but not hot to your finger. Do this when you battery is cool too.

i have the ballistic 2700 batt. ,i agree to the all post above ,slow is the best i always do the .5a & make sure its warm not hot lol, some guys here simply dont get it they so itchy to run so they do fast charging when it comes to main damn too many complains start blaming the rx batt. slow servo torque & etc. lol ................when it comes to this ,the battery needs attention, the warm rx battery is way to go but not hot battery after charging
