Default Are fuel filters important at all?

I had a fuel filter for awhile, but I noticed that after about 5 tanks of fuel there was absolutely no debris trapped on the screen except one little stringy thingy, so I ditched it. I suspected it of causing suction problems through the fuel line.

Are fuel filters all that important? Are they as important as air filters? Should I get one for my new car?

They are very important. Its very easy to get dirt inside your fuel tank during pit stops.

And if you like to spend time on your roof its good to have a reservoir.

And if i were you i would put it back on. Yes you havent had any debris in your tank YET!!! But it might happen.
