i have two GO engines and both of these engines have had huge gashes in the side of the piston. is this sothing that is just with this engine or just whats going on.

this was from straight out of the box. I like to clean the engine inside and inspec engine before running (don't no if i am ment to do this but i do anyway. this is why).

thats wierd, maybe after break-in they will smooth out. if it does not hurt the compression i would not worry about it.

It's been a long time since I pulled apart a go but are you referring to the piston skirt being broken on the exhaust port side? If so you removed the backplate without rolling the piston up.

i am sorry but i don't no what you mean by the piston skirt. but the damage is from top to bottom on the left hand side.

I would need to see the pics but it sounds like there may have been some shavings left over from machining when it was assembled. I always break mine down flush them good before running for reasons such as that. I modify all my engines anyway so they get the royal treatment, a good bath and the very best dandruff free shampoo

If it is a factory defect, contact your GO Tech rep and see what he can for you. I hear the Go guys are not too bad with the factory defect side of the claims.

You should always take apart your engine and clean it. Before it sees the first drop of fuel. In this instance you are correct in what you are doing.
