Wood Ramps will work.
Wood ramps work fine for R/C tracks, but its not simple as banging a ramp together and throwing it on the track. There are several variables to consider.
How high you want the cars go, how far they need jump and how much run up they have before the ramp (so you can determine how fast they will be going when they hit the ramp). With that factored you can design the ramps to fit your needs.
To keep dirt jumps in good shape you can use an old piece of carpet on the jumps. It will keep the rain from washing them away. Covering the knuckle will help it keep its shape.
The best thing to use is the right type of dirt. Add a bit of moisture and pack the hell out of it until it is as hard as concrete or as close to it as you can get!
Ok not RC but the same principle
These were constructed with 80k worth of soil brought in for the event. Took about 4 weeks to build, once completed withstood the Whistler elements (lots of rain) for 4 months and did not deteriorate a bit. And it helps if Red Bull is footing the bill.
