My older Superbrain 977 says it'll do 1-3 cell lipo, as well. I don't trust it for that, so I got the Racers Edge SureCharge 2000 with the metal case for my lipo batteries.

At this point, I think it'd be silly not to get a charger that has a built in lipo balancer. They can be had for $130 easily, and they'll do your NiMH. They'll also be ready and waiting for you when you inevitably change to lipo in the future.

How is the Racers Edge working out for you I am looking hard buying it.

It is a nice little setup at an unbeatable price. The aluminum case really is an awesome touch.

I have noticed a loooot of similarities between all the chargers in the $120-140 range. I have a feeling they're all the same or very similar hardware, just a different presentation and maybe firmware. For me it came down to the Hyperion at $140, the Racers Edge at $135 and the Triton EQ at $130. There's also one from Venom and a few more from Asia. They were all spec'd so similar, I just went with the one I liked the look of the most.

Using the superbrain 977 I have charged a glow ignitor, receiver battery, nimh stick pack and a lead 12v starter box battery - 2 at the same time in any combination. It works perfectly. Each one stops when the correct peak value is reached and it detects the number of cells itself. Great little charger for the money. The fan is a little loud but it does not get hot.
