Don't run it?

I've had good luck polishing mine w/ a polishing wheel on a dremel. As for keeping it polished, not sure what you can really do.

The pipe/muffler is a major part of the tune and changing the part of the power band. Theres another effect that most don't know about. The pulse, pressure waves inside the pipe making the engine really comes on hard is the is "supercharge effect". Wish I still had the link that talked about it for 2 cycle engines on the effect of the exhaust system has on the engine

Engines are not sensitve to pipes hahahahahahahahahahahaha thats funny right there. Do you think RB, OS, Nnja, Nova do not put money into R&D. Hundreds of thousands of dollars go into testing engine performances with different pipes. IMO RB run WAY better with a RB pipe. you put a factory Losi pipe on a RB its not going to give you the performance you pay for. Maybe dude just dont feel the difference. I run OS V-spec with an OS pipe. I also have a JP1 pipe that I like to just for small tracks. If I change pipes I have to completely retune everything.

Even on a 1:1 car - you go to a high performance system THERE WILL BE A DIFFERENCE. the only difference is that "REAL" CAR CPU will do the tuning.

Grab some brake cleaner from the auto parts store to spray out the inside of old pipes. Amazing how much black stuff comes out. If you also get silver and gold colored tiny specs in the mix you can bet the engine had problems.
