Default Starter Box Lipo Problems

Hi all

I have just fitted my starter box with a 14.8v 4000mah lipo battery with a 15c burst discharge rate. It spins up AWSOMELY fast but just doesent seem to have the torque to turn the engine over. Any ideas i bought the lipo from ebay and it is labeled as above but it just doesent seem to have the umph to turn the engine over.

15C burst? If so, it's definitely not enough. Starter box motors can draw pretty high amperage. 15C continuous with a 60C burst would be fine, but 15C burst won't work.

Batteries probably can't put out the amperage to keep it going after the burst...

If you have another pack that's exactly the same, wire them in parallel, then you'll be set.

you got suckered into the 1 thing i warn about buying lipo's from Ebay.....NEVER BUY anything that is less then 20C.....basically fork over another 30-40$ and find a 20C or better pack.....25 or 30 will also be fine.

Imo no...20C is Minimum when it come's to anything drawing significant amperage.

Well, you COULD wire them both up in parallel, but that'd be a pretty heavy starter box

I might do that as also will use it to charge my receiver batteries/glow starter if they need it during racing so will most likely use the external cord from starter box to attach to battery.Thanks.

Wiring them in parallel should definitely help.
