Default Charging Gel Cells

For those of you that use the wall charger for your gel cells.

How long do you keep it on the charger. I am a little hesitant to leave it over night due to a fire or something.

In general how do you know if it is fully charged. The reason why I ask is I don't let the battery die so how long am I suposed to charge.

a new gel cell 7ah requires 14 hours to fully charge. It also says after some extensive use to recharge around 10-12 hours to fully charge.

So you can plug it into the wall(AC). Otherwise you have to use a car battery(DC).

My gel cell charges over night, when I check it the next day, usually the charger slowly reduces the amps going into it when it gets near its capacity until it is near zero amps. The battery runs my box for a long time.

I have the mrc super brain 989. It charges gel cells. I was gonna use it instead of the wall charger but Im unsure as to how many cells these batteries have. it goes from 1-5 on my charger. The directions are unclear with my charger so I have never used it to charge my gel cell. Should I charge at 1 amp also ? I know these batterys are 7ah so that would be 7000 mia, correct ? someone please clarify the number of cells for me please.

You dont need it..Get this one, and unless you switch to Lipo, you'll be fine:

you can charge it at 2 amps in about 6 hours or 1 amp in about 10 hours

I believe a gel cell, is just 1 big cell..as long as you dont go over 2 amps I believe you will be fine

well I am curious now, since I have had two starter box batteries go bad this season (both almost 2 years old). I have always used these: http://www.redrockethobbies.com/Hang...tm&Click=29184 with the Hobbico wall charger. i was told to just plug em and forget em.... But twice this year I had them go bad on me... ?????
