I had an issue with a V-spec( couldn't hold a tune and lost its pinch inside a gallon). Went to a race where some of the OS guys were there and explained my problem. They took it and went through it. Replaced piston/sleeve etc( NO CHARGE). Still had the same problem when I got it back. This time I sent it back, and they sent me a NEW ENGINE...NO CHARGE! I was pretty happy about that. And since then...the engine is running just fine....no tune problems at all.

Finally got my speed broke in and started tuning it. So the thing is sweet. I think I need a different pipe the 053 does ok but it takes a little bit for it to wind all the way up and then you can tell it struggles a little at the very top of the RPM. It might just need a little more fuel through it so far I heat cycled 6 tanks with a modified johnny cool guy method and ran one tank tuning in the street. So far I'm digging the vspec. I will know more tomorrow at quals and then the mains on Sun.

But to put into perspective....1 hp ≡ 33,000 ft·lbf/min

RPM ratings? sure...but actual horse power ratings...not true at all just by looking what a true horse power rating is. i could tie my nitro buggy to my ankle and pin it WOT and it wouldnt move an inch.

go carts carry 3.5 horse power, and they have to carry a full grown man....i can hold my kit with one hand and it wont go anywhere.
Of course it wouldn't pull you, it has very little torque. Put enough gear on it and it will drag you all over the place, though not very fast. And for the record, I have personally held a 8 hp go kart still with my bare hands on the rear nerf bar.

Independent testing on very accurate dynos show onroad .21's getting very close to 3 hp. It would not surprise me one bit to see the better offroad motors topping 2. Just ask Uriah Murnan. He has an excellent dyno and knows the real numbers.

If you absolutely have to know how much real horsepower the motor is putting to the wheels, time a car from a standing start through a fixed distance. With accurate timing and the weight of the car you can calculate how much horsepower it would take to accelerate that fast. Of course this number will be lower do to friction losses in the drive train and clutch slip.

put enough gear on it? and a 8 pound car will be able to drag a 200 pound man...ok i guess this is when i am done LOL

I will let it be, i guess we need to put a HP rating on a micro engine.

Power wise it would be able to pull you around. Traction wise it will just spin the tires but that's not the motors fault. There are videos floating around the web of people on skateboards or sitting in wagons or whatever being pulled around by an RC truck.

after racing for about 2 years i have seen many engines come and go, i've had a few os motors, 2 go tech's i now have a sirio evo 21 and believe the v specs are possibly the safest bet for your bucks on the market.

Here's an RC monster truck pulling a Civic despite most of the engines power being wasted to wheel spin.

Here's the full scale version without the wheel spin and all the talking.

As for the Speed warranty issue, they have never had a warranty. Only the standard VSpec had some type of warranty from Great Planes.

Interesting but not all that impressive to me since we have an aircraft tug at work. That thing might have 40 hp.
