At least 10 gallons? I want some of THOSE motors!

I have yet to have a motor last more than about 7-8 gallons, under racing conditions, with a race tune on it.

Bashing might be different...

While I hate to immediately say that they're scamming you... it sounds to me like you have a perfectly good piston and sleeve. You did the right thing by asking here.

When a motor is new, the fit of the piston and sleeve will be VERY tight at the top. The sleeve is tapered slightly... as the motor breaks in, it will loosen up somewhat. When it gets TOO loose, the motor is worn out.

I think I would be cautious about believing anything you hear from that particular individual if not the shop in general. You did the right thing in this case by checking with us here.

This shop is totally trying to sell him off on anything they can, trying to take advantage of a new comer to the hobby. Unfortunately, many LHS's do this. You have to watch out for em'.

I told you so buddy....

My motor is on it's second gallon, and is gaining strength, I expect at least another 10 out of it. Once I get out of school I expect to be going through at least a gallon every other week, so it had better last that long.

He was saying the lhs was gonna sell you a new one with the same problem. Meaning the new one would be tight also which means the one you have now is good.

I went out and tryed the 1/2 turn on the glow plug. I heated it up also. But I still couldnt get it to start. When I heated the motor the drill had no problems turn the motor. Is there anything else to try?

If this is a new engine it will take some effort to get it started. With the problems you are having I would go to the nearest track and ask for help. Most lhs do not have the knowledge to truly help. A racer will be your best help for sure. Its sad they arent knowledgable but thats the way it is most of the time. If you cant start over from scratch and follow the directions to get it started then giving advice over the net won't be much help either. You need someone to help in person.

Well well well... What a night. I went BACK to the LHS. I know dumb. They burnt up my BRAND NEW HPI DRILL I BOUGHT MONDAY. Still couldnt get it to start. Well he said if you have time let me charge 2 batterys to try the jump box. I said OK. I got to looking at the cars fuel lines. I noticed that the line coming from the tank was pinched by a zip tie. So I was like fuck after you burn up my drill I foind this. So I waited. They close at 8pm. So around 7:20 the batterys where finished. So we tryed the box. ON THE FIRST TIME SHE FIRE AND I WENT NUTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I rushed home to get all the stuff to the drill and boxs for the charger and battery for the drill. I got a dynamite platinum starter box, the big battery ( looks like a small motorcycle battery ) and charger. So the guy that told me last night THERE CAR TECH that tryed to sell me a piston & sleeve got fired!!!!! SHE RUNS!!!!!!!!!

At least you got it fired!
Bump box + gel cell = MUCH better than darn near anything else out there for starting cars.
