Default 10+ minutes Engines List

Guys, I need a motor that can do 10+ mins (RACE CONDITIONS) on a 30 second small sized track. SO far from what I've gathered (from this forum) it would be the Plus 4, V-Spec II, Orion's 3 Port ABI and a Go Tech 3P Race? Kindly advice, thanks in advance! SO far no one at my local track has reached the 8 min mark with their V Spec IIs, RB C6s etc etc, let alone 10 mins!

Engine will be race tuned, and controlled 125CC fuel tank capasity. Track has lots of short run ups and the longest stretch is about 15m or so

There are so many variables when trying to achieve the magical 10 minutes to a tank in buggy. I know because I try to achieve the same thing. But the motors that are pretty well known to be able and get better than average runtime with any driver and under most conditions are the os v-spec or speed, novarossi plus 4, grp tuned .21, rb c6, and the mugen jx.21. I am sure there are more but these seem to be the most common when it comes to good fuel mileage.

Most all of the engines mentioned in the above post will get you the 10 min run time on a 125cc tank, only and i mean only if the tune is bang on not close not almost right but bang on. New motors with less than 2 gallons that still have noticeble pinch left wont get 10 min out a tank untill all the pinchis gone letting the engine rev freely. When those two varialbes are inplace or accounted for than 25 other things come into play like track, weather, etc, etc but one things i know is you have to experiment with different tune, set ups etc, etc, remmember YOU are most of the reason why most people cant get to the 10 min mark, your driving style has lost to do with fuel mileage.

Try setting up your car to have lots of jam at half throttle or roll on the power is stead of chopping on it.

Too many variables. I CAN get 11 minutes on our tight technical track with my +4using the 6.5mm restrictor, but if we are running hard and I have to be on it quite a lot then it the run times will drop to 9:40 if I am really doggin' it. I am however going to try an OS 6mm and 5.5mm restrictor to see what it does to my times. Right now I have the carb barrel not opening across the whole 6.5mm restrictor and it still has wwaaaayyyyy more then enough power. I am STILL pulling every other car I have run up against on the front straight. I can't imagine what the 8.5 restrictor would do, I already have the servo slowed in the first 1/3 travel to keep the tires under it.....

Hi,
On average does a truggy with a 150ml tank get more or less runtime?

Cheers
Scott

It should get around the same since you need more fuel to move the heavier truggy.

10 minutes is always my target run time. The last two motors (NR p5xst and the NR +4) had no trouble reaching this goal. Of course I do run PTM modded engines. Mods are not always for raw power but can include efficiency.
Things you can do include:
Good motor/pipe combo - I am a big NR fan

Proper plug and Tune. Brand of Fuel can also alter runtimes. I run Byrons Gen2 30%.

Trigger finger - I would reduce the EPA on the throttle. This was a tip that I got from a Pro driver and immediately showed results on the track. I usually only let my carb open up 40-50%. I usually set this according to the "Big Jump" on the track I am running. Also try to pay attention to how you execute the trigger. Try using a quick rolling verse just squeeze it.

Drivetrain - Make sure the drivetrain is as smooth as it can be. Diffs, bearings, brakes, mesh. anything that would increase drag or resistance.

Smaller insert - This can tame down the low end power and increase fuel economy. If a track is real loose this can help on the bottom end with wheel spin. The more wheel spin you are experiencing the more fuel wasted.

Personally I do not run any extra filters or extened fuel line.

Thats all I can think of ATM. If the engine is still tight then over time your fuel economy will increase with proper tunning.

Rumor has it the NR +4 is capable of around 13 min. runtime. I have not experience that yet but is a goal I am working on.

Good Luck
