Unhappy RC8 QUESTION

I have an RC8 buggy and I'm wanting to find out what combination of pistons, springs and oil do I need to use in order to have the shock collars all the way up and still maintain the no boucing that I have now. I am running 40 wt. in the front with silver springs and 35wt. in the back and black springs. The combination has pretty well eliminating the bouncing but I have to push the collars almost all the way down to ride level. What can I use to have the same feel but pull the collars up?

check out this page: http://www.rctech.net/forum/nitro-of...info-tips.html

The start of the thread has help with the stock shocks and the end has info in the 16mm shocks.

Unhappy SHOCK PROBLEM

I just would like to know what oil and shock combination do I need to run so I can pull my shock collars all the way up and still ride level.

The shock collars are there to set the ride height. Whats wrong with having to have them down?

You can use stiffer springs which would probably not require the collars be so far down but its going to change how the car handles.

Are you talking about with the big bores? Is your car nitro or electric?

To do what your asking you would need to find longer springs than the ones AE makes.

Oil and pistons have no effect on ride height.

It sounds like the question is more aesthetically motivated than performance motivated.

Or it could be electric. The electric buggy is heavier and with those soft springs I could see them being fully loaded and still not giving much ride height.

Or he can read the thread that's already started (like everyone else has done) to get the inside info!

I'm just curious on why he's asking that specific question. What's the deal?

The good thing is that the suspension travel isn't limited by the position of the spring collar. It's limited by the length of the shock shaft. You could have the spring collar all the way down on the shock body and still be able to compress the shock as far as you can with the collar all the way up.

Cameron why dont you give us some background on what set-up your running and maybe a picture of exactly whats going on. Your not getting the responses your looking for because its an odd request and the info you have offered is minimal.

You have 2 team guys here trying to help give us something to work with.

This is a picture of my buggy and how the springs are set to give proper ride height. There is no reason to have the spring collars all the way at the top. They are there to be adjusted to give proper ride height and have no effect on the shocks ability to reach full travel.
