just to make shure we are talking about the same thing you are asking about header's shaped pretty much like this ] correct?

i always thought the shorter header's were geared more to low end and longer header's were more top end? with the medium length's being more of an "all 'round" powerband?

longer round header = instantaneous bottom end and falls flat on the top very fast , best used with very top oriented pipes .

medium round header = (jammin, dynamite) the best compromise between the three and will work the best with 9886 pipe ( ya baby!)

short round header = very smooth bottom end response with excellent pull from bottom to top , best used with low end to mid range pipes .

] long square header 41005= the square headers work excellent with the low end oriented pipes such as 9853 , 9901 , 3004 , 3005 and copies of these pipes . the long header can be used with a 9886 pipe when you have lots of speed burst stretches on the track of 50 -80 feet .

medium square header = (ofna) my favorite header for low end pipes

short square header 41001 = this header can create even more mid to top pull from your low end pipe (9853) without sacrificing the linear feel of the pipe . do not use with top end pipes !

there is much more i could explain but i tried to narrow it down

hope this helps ,
monty

have question why is it that my nova plus 4 09 model with the 9901 pipe and square header felt flat on the top switched to my os 2050 for lack of other pipe to run and it was wild fast and had too much bottom had to detune the hell out of it to make it drive able bought the nova pipr and header used dont know what header length is but it looks close to length of os 2050 header

Go to houston's engine service and ask, my last post was an answer I got from monty about header length. All he does is Nova Rossi

9901 pipe is a 3-chamber pipe, the 2050 is a 2 chamber, the more chambers the less power, short header=top end, long header=low end

I like to start with the med header and then see where I need a little boost at. If I want more low end then I use a long header and the opposite if I news more top end. Check out the Houston's Engine Service (HES) page he's full of answers.

typically for me; pipes will give more 'adjustments' while headers are for fine tuning...
