Thumbs up SH.28 off ebay

I have a Force .21 engine in my hot bodies lightning buggy. This engine has barely any compression and wont hold a tune so I am on the lookout for a new engine for a cheap price. I was looking on ebay and saw some SH .28 3port engines for $90USD shipped. Are these any good? I have heard reports of them having a manufacturing fault in them. Are the ones on ebay allright or should I steer clear of them? I dont do any racing so I dont need a really high performance engine I just need one that will have reasonable power and will last a reasonable amount of time.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I've been happy with mine, its a good runner. I would seal it up when you get it to be safe against air leaks though.

Absolutely, and that goes for pretty much any engine

I have the sh.28 & it is a good engine for the money. It was a thirsty sucker till about 1 gallon , it now get a little over 6 mins. in truggy which is o.k. for a .28. Def. seal it up & you should be good. If you bash it's o.k. but i don't know if i would race w/ a .28 in a buggy. Have you looked for a .21 ?

I have also found a CEN .28 engine which I can get for around the same price. Which one should I get?

The auction for the CEN engine closes tonight so I have to make a decision soon. Anyone else got any opinions?

Get the CEN because when they wear out they do a "trade in" thing for a new one

Does this trade in thingy only apply if its under warranty. Or is it any time whenever the engine breaks or wears out.

The CEN .28 is an SH engine.

I have one that came with the RTR matrix truggy.

These are good engines.

CEN will trade you your old one for a new one for $100 bucks.

I think the ebay prices are still cheaper.

I run an SH PT2008-xb .21 race engine and they are all strong runners.

Dam the auction for the CEN engine closed while I was away. I was going to buy that engine but now I cant. Instead I was thinking of buying the SH .28 until I saw that for about another $30 I can get an axial .28 spec 1s. The description of this engine looks better. It has higher RPM and higher horse power. Should I pay the extra to get this engine or not bother and stick with the SH.

The thing you want to consider is this:

A .28 is not legal for bigger races in a buggy. The limit is a .21

If you want to race, you need to find a .21 in your budget.

From what I have heard (no personal experience with any of these) the Jammin .21 is good, the SH .21 is good, the Go 3-port is good...

If you just want to bash... then the .28 is fine.
