I have a new Matrix R2 and pulled the starter cord out this weekend I had to take the motor from it's mount to get the starter recoil mechanism off the back of the motor. I repaired the starter cord and then reset the spur with a piece of paper in between the bell and the gear as I do with my T-maxx. Is that still OK to do it that way???

I pulled out the paper when the motor mount screws were tight and it left the tooth marks but didn't tear or cut through the paper.

Can someone let me know If I still did that the right way???
