Default .21 GRP Tuned Woes

The qiuck story is I took my engine apart today and a small piece chip/broke off the bottom of the piston. The engine has had it's fair share of troubles, biggest being I had a bad wreck and it came loose and rev'd so high I thought It'd explode.

So my question is should I just buy a new piston/sleeve, or find a new engine. I'd hate to spend $100 on the parts just to turn around and break something else. BTW this is the first time I've ever seen the inside of a Nitro engine, so I'm in no way an expert. There's nobody around me I know of that I'd really trust looking into the engine, but I'd be willing to send it off if somebody can recommend a good engine builder.

Did you have the piston at or near T.D.C. when you pulled
the back plate from the crankcase? If not, that may have
broken a chunk of the piston skirt off.

Honestly I have no idea so I'll say no. I was pretty frustrated at that point I don't get to make alot of race nights because of work, so for another thing to go wrong today I was trying to hurry, and well...screwed myself I guess....

That's prob. what happened. My son has had great service from his tuned grp. he bought it from a fellow racer who had replaced the bearings rod/piston/sleeve & has put 6 or 7 gallons on it. It now needs a crank & we were thinking of repairing it but someone at the track told us that grp was not going to make engines anymore. Guess we won't be fixing it if that's true. It was a good engine though.

GRP is not making engines anymore but you can still get the parts as of right now. I would replace whatever you have to. Thats a nice engine. I have 2 of them. I just ordered the crank because the clutch bell screw broke off in there so how. If I have to replace one of my engines I think I want to go with the ninja.

I was thinking of Novarossi N21BF Limited Edition

I don't need anything too hot, shoot at this point I just want to make it to the track and make a damn lap lol...if I can find the piston in stock somewhere I will scoop it up.

A friend of mine have that engine and he says its bad azz. From reading on this forum people say that is a good engine also. Since you dont want to spend that much and use to learn how to drive that would be a good way to go.
