Default Heads up - Fresh sick track in Santa Barbara

Come race this weekend! Saturday at 9:30am racing starts. Practice should be open from 7:30-8am I think. should be some good competition. Only a couple hours up from Los Angeles.

Track by "The Dirt" Joey.

These pictures do not do it justice. Track flows so well and is technical at the same time.

Google Elings Park santa barbara for directions. RC Track is about 50 yards inside the entrance on the left.

Someone be sure to submit this track and details to UndergroundRC's track locater data base, and submit any big race dates. Many of the local SoCal crowd uses this site for its race calender and track info.

Looks killer! Joey always does a fun layout!

Is this the track that's in a public park? Bess told me about it last week and I've been trying to find info. We're working right now on trying to get a public track here, I actually have a meeting with our Parks Dept. next week. Anyone I could talk to about how y'all set it up in Santa Barbara?

I thought the track was on a public park but it is actually a private donated park, so different rules I'm sure.

Maybe. But generally, once a preserve, park, etc. gets deeded over it becomes the property of the municipality that it was given to. So, unless the donor retained title to it in some way it probably becomes a city park. Be interested to know the answer.

Not sure.

I do know that "the man" in charge of this track has the last name of Elings, and the parks name is Elings Park, so if your RC track is managed and raced on by someone that high up, things just get done.

you can try to get in touch with Steve Bray (mailto:beach_lover91320@yahoo.com), he is the pres. of the ventura county roadrunners (http://roadrunnersrc.com/forums/inde...a7235c43306a23) this track is in a public park. I dont know how much help he can give, the track has been there since 1974 or something like that.

Thanks backyard racer, that's the kind of info I'm looking for. Is there another thread for this track somewhere? Steve thought there was one on RC Tech already but I haven't found it.

Sorry no racing this weekend as the park is closed for fire dept staging, for our unfortunate massive wildfire.

Please spread the word.
