BEST LIPO/REG COMBO FOR RECIEVER PACK?
 

Really wanting to switch over to a lipo set up for my reciever packs just for the sake of lasting all day on one charge..BUT i have seen some issues with them not cooperating with recievers on spektrum and Airtronics...SO what lipo/rec. pack combo's are you guys using that have been working fine for some time now??

Only stipulations are:

-Must work with Airtronics DSSS 2.4 (already seen some reg's have a messed up band width and make the reciever power down intermitantly on this system)
-must fit in a losi 2.0 box prefer ATLEAST 1500mah if not 2000mah
-and last most of a race day with out charging..

Im using Losi pack and losi [no switch!!] regulators, on my m11+dsss 2.4 system, no problems.

I can only assume the packs will fit in your cars..since..they...are losi. But this system has been fantastic...I cant believe it took me so long to switch to lipo, its great.

i am using the losi pack with the protek reg. have been using both for a long time with no issues. the battery is 2000mah and last the whole day. i have my reg mounted on the outside of the radio tray. the reg has leds lite to tell u if the battery has low charge. green means good red means low voltage.

I 'm using the exceed pack, 1300 mah , 60grams, + protek regulator. The very 1st real test was done this sunday in my local club race . Duration for amain was 30min and everything was fine. Just remember to put the regulator outside the receiver box this things dont like to much heat....:sneaky:

I am using a 7 volt HT Batteries regulator. Works awesome. I love the extra speed and torque I get from using the 7 volt regulator.

I have 2 losi Regulators with switches I can sell any one who is interested. 1 is new and the other was mounted on my buggy but never used. PM me if anybody is interested.

allumina..whats the deal with the switch and why not use it?? is this the cause of regulator failure??

slaytanic--that orion reg looks bad ass..i like how it has a built in heat sink to dissapate heat!! BAD ASS! its cheap too!

Thats what I was thinking. Great price and looks robust. Plus you can adjust the output voltage in .2 volt increments. Grab it at stormerhobbies

Dont know the size but judging from the pics it is about the same as the protek but with a heatsink. It is adjustable from 5.5 to 7.4 and can take 10 amps!! Most other are good for 3 or 5 amps. For the price it is what I will be getting. Now if amain would just get the dang protek 2300's in stock! If they dont soon I will go with the teamhelotes pack.

Dont put it in your box! It regulates by turning the voltage into heat to dissapate. That cant be good for your reciever. My last regulator I used some double sided tape and put it on the side of my box.

yea i am aware of this..i been using FROMECO reg's on my .90 size nitro helis for a while and they were always recomend you to put them were air can get to em...imagine how much stress is put on a regulator that is operating 5 high speed digital servo's a gyro,rec, and governor!! haha and i think that reg is rated at 10 amps!! the orion is a beast for R/C cars!!

I dont really have a choice but to put it in the reciever box...there aint much room on the side of a 2.0 box..i figured id drill some holes in the lid and in the side of the box for air...Kinda hack but what can i do??

I ordered one of the orions to use and its huge..... it wont fit in any radio box I've ver seen.... and it would be pretty obnoxious to mount outside.... its like 2" long and at least an inch wide.

I've used the protek 2000 and they're regulator for over a year with no issues at all.... real good stuff IMO

I;m using a losi 2000 pack and losi reg with switch. No problems but it's a tight fit. The leads are so short from regulator to rec that you have no choice but to mount it in rec box. I did put foam between the 2 so I haven't had a heat problem. If I had it to do again I would get it without the switch.
