help with drivetrain

i broke my car down to install a new engine. When i took then center diff out i noticed that the when i push on the front/rear driveshafts the gears bind a bit when i pull on the driveshafts the gears are free like they are supposed to be. Is this normal?? or do i need to shim it. Do realize that i am pushing on the driveshaft with the tires on it does not do this as far as i can tell. btw mugen mbx6 and yes it is in the mugen thread, but been waiting for a reply

Are you doing it with the diff off the chassis?
if its a yes, mount it on the chassis all tight up as you normally would but without the center driveshafts and rotate the diff, it should be spin freely, if it isnt there may be a problem.
