Your engine is either tuned better or just gets better runtime. Run it for practice before you race everyday and time it and keep checking your fuel level. I try to pit with almost or around 1 min of runtime left just incase plus if you stretch it too much your engine will lean out.

Pit times vary according to engine run times. all .21-.28 engines get between 7-11 minutes runtime, so people will pit according to their engines, not following any specific timeframe

With my current buggy engine(PTM-NR P5XST with a 053). I pit at 10 minutes. This is the same for me on large tracks(PNB 09') and medium tracks.(Hometown track WHH). This leaves me a nice splash of fuel before topping off.
Most times I call it on the fly. If I take the lead or 2nd in a race I may reduce or extend pit times to work to my advantage. But you really have to know your tune those day.

I am always working the clock while I am racing
