Default Engine button head direction

hi guys,
i've noticed that on the button head, there'll be a 'dot' or sometimes 2 'dots' (depending on which engine), the 'dot' is to let us know which direction the button should be facing? or any other purposes?

usually which direction should the 'dot' be facing?

The more number of dots should face the exhaust port direction. I've intalled it in so many directions before it didn't really matter Unless your cylinder is triangular

maybe it depends on where the 'notch' on the liner is? same direction as the liner 'notch'?

Over the year's ive seen them either or way....if you don't have a dot.....scribe an arrow to ensure it always goes back on the same way....its not that big of deal tho to mix it up....all thats going to happen is that 1 side of the button get's a little more carbon on it from being on the exhaust side.
