did not have a guage for temp. But judging from the smoke coming from the top of the engine i would say at least 300. I mean the engine was running AT RPM'S THAT I DID NOT THINK WAS POSSIBLE.

is there any way to tell if the engine is fried??? if i take the head off would the piston be melted to the sleeve or something

300 might shorten the life, but wont kill it instantly

richen the high end needle, and try starting it again once you figure out the linkage problem

Richen the motor up start it up get her warm shut her down and spin the flywheel with your finger. If it spins with little effort it wore out and you can rebuild it.
Try spinning it now if it spins freely then it definitely needs a rebuild.

Electric scares the crap out of me. If your lipo decides it doesn't want to play anymore and it's 100 feet from you... by the time you get there, your entire car could be a puddle of plastic soup with chunks of aluminum.

I realize this doesn't happen very often, but it happens.

I would hold off on the Ninja until you get tuning figured out.

if you had the air filter off and the gap on the slider was very little then there is an air leak check the head bolts make sure the carby is tight and tha back plate is tight how old is the motor?was it new or used ? the only way a motor can run wild is if there is an air leak or the throttle is wide open or near it

Air leak could come from the fuel tank/lines as well. Bubbles in the fuel line will lean your engine out pretty fiercely.

Sounds like you are very lean on the High speed needle and possibly the low speed needle as well! The carb has 3 adjustments on it, LSN(low speed needle)HSN(high speed needle) and idle adjustment. Look at the picture below.... Turn your high speed needle out about 1.5-2 turns and see if that makes it any better. Also turn the LSN out about a turn and see if that helps.

Good luck to you!
