Sounds like you aren't tightening them enough. I haven't seen this as a problem unless they aren't tight enough, on ANY buggy or truggy.

Our Vibra tite works very well on wheel nuts and other fasteners including screwing into plastic.

Balancing/smooth running tires will also help prevent this issue...
On my Clodbuster (yeah yeah, I know
) when I use my Imex Baja's, or my truggy's Crimefighters (they came with the truck used), one wheel bolt will back off with the truggy wheels, and if I'm not careful on the Baja's, I can lose all four, just from cruising down the road... You can watch it bounce and the wheels wobble
As for nylon lock nuts, I've never had an issue re-using them a bunch of times... You can tell when they're worn out, as when the threads reach the nylon, there's noticable resistance... Once that slacks off, it's time to replace.
