Default OS Speed or Picco P7R for a HB D8

Which engine for the D8... kind of leaning towards the Speed.

I think the speed would be a good motor. I'm using a modified novarossi, but use the speed in my truggy.

Not questioning your driving skills. However the cost of the speed versus the cost of Picco is not even a comparison. If you can drive the Picco will be more than enough engine. Don't get me wrong the speed is a great engine with lots of power on demand. The problem is that most people that have them never:

A. run them at tracks where the dang engine gets a chance to breathe.
B. Lack the skills to take advantage of the massive power.
C. Due to the lack of skills actually are slower.
D. Spend more time trying utilize the extra power. They forget to work on there basic skills. maintain your lines. drive within there capabilities. always thinking they can get them in the straight instead of the infield. remember the straights at practically any track account for about 30% of the race.

I run a Picco in my truggy and my buggy and it's more than enough power. Last night watch a speed get beat by a Reedy, Picco and a Ninja the original Ninja. It wasn't that they were faster they drove better! They could handle the power in there cars better. Keep your extra $200 dollars and buy some tires now thats something that will make a major difference on the track!

+1 and stock the speed gets better runtimes.

I would also consider the OS made JX ninja. Almost the same as the speed, but alot cheaper. Might not be quite as smooth as a speed because of the crankshaft, but is a very powerful but linear engine. Also very easy to tune and will last a long time if treated correctly. IMO the ninja is the best motor on the market right now. Don't get me wrong the speed is excellent, but I am not sure if it would be worth the difference in price over the ninja. I guess if you were looking for the smoothest possible setup the speed would be it.

I would also use the SEARCH feature to read about both before you buy.

With all due respect to you sir, I think if you need to ask this question you have no use for a $500 engine. (just like me)
