As long as you distribute a good amount of after-run-oil in it ( to displace moisture and prevent rust) you can store it indefinitely..Store indoors in a temperature controlled environment..and close off all the openings

what if it is on my buggy?? I mean, it was stored away with oil and closed of like you said inside my house for a long time. I put it on my buggy about 2 or 3 weeks ago. the pipe and filter have been on it (for a couple weeks) That won't hurt my engine will it???? how much air can go in there through the filter and pipe?? and is it enough to damage my engine?? It of course has still been inside my house.

It doesen't matter if its on your buugy...Just make sure the carb is capped, or has an air filter on it, and the pipe manifold is on, and you put ARO in it..it can sit for months, as long as you dont let Moisture, or dirt in..Moisture=rust

I left a Trinity Drake engine in my car, un oiled and with nothing capped off for an entire year in my garage. It started right up and still running perfect on gallon 6.

i put my car's away late last fall and after doing the ARO thing i thought they would be fine seeing as they are kept in a heated garage.

boy was i surprised whe i pulled the backplate off one of my motor's just to have a lil' peak! needless to say i tore them all down and removed every spec of rust that i could see! i will NOT chance any rust in my motor's.

i use hobbico ARO and sidewinder 25/10 fuel....

Like Jazz said, you can store an engine indefinately. The condition of the engine after years on the shelf will depend on how careful you were preping it for storage. I've got a used engine that I mod'ed and it has been sitting on my shelf for the past six years waiting for the day I need it. I was carefull bagging it so I know it's ready to bolt up and burn some fuel.

I wonder if putting a motor away in a zip lock bag paired with them silica gel pouches would be any good?

Default 20 years

I had an OS .46 airplane motor in my shop drawer from 1987 to 2007. No after run oil, no bag, no covers. I took off the carb and lubed it, ran some lube through the glow plug hole, and the next day, I fired it up with the first turn of a chicken stick. Still had the same pull as it did 20 years ago. Amazing stuff, although I don't recommend it to anyone.

You'd think I'd be an OS fan for life now, but with the posts I read on this forum, I really don't know...
