Carb Restrictor
Who here races with a carb restrictor on their intake.
I"ve done a bit of reading and a few searches and found that they slow down the engine thats already overpowered, and increase run time. Also to richen out the needles if removing it from the carb.
What are peoples opinions here in regards to these.
Do you use one?
What benefits do you think there is to taking it off or leaving it on.

I know that engines from Sirio, novarossi and OS use carb restrictors. They all use a carb restrictor at all times and can be easily swapped out as a tuning option. A smaller restrictor opening will decrease your top speed and may affect the bottom end slightly or maybe not at all. You will however gain runtime.

I often run them in on road for more run time (8.5mm or 8mm).
Since all the off road tracks around here are small and tight I see no reason not to use at least an 8mm and usually a 7mm. If you can't use all that power you might as well get better mileage.
I have on occasion seen motors that were very difficult to get tuned right on the bottom end and dropping to a smaller venturi cleared out the problem and made them much more tune friendly.

If you wanna seriously increase your runtimes but don't want to loose much...if any noticable power....I strongly recommend IDRC carb inserts. If your racing....they are a must have item. I run a 6mm in a Go tech 5P and can pull a 10min run pretty easy.

The IDRC Velocity Venturi's were designed with the racer in mind. They will improve overall performance and mileage of the engine without killing the top end power.
You can run a 6 or 7mm IDRC venturi and increase low to mid response and still acheive the same top end power that you would with a stock OEM 8mm venturi.
The power the engine produces will be smoother through the entire powerband and fuel mileage will increase due to a broader powerband.
These venturi's work very well and are unlike any other on the market.
