Default Engine Mount?

Hey guys,

so as some of you may no I am having trouble keeping my engine mounted in the right place. One of the screws always comes loose so then the gear mesh comes out. The screws that are coming loose now are the ones that secure my engine onto my mount. I loctited and put lock washers and nothing works. I tightened it down really tight. Today it was fine when goig about 5 feet in the ari but then I hit a jump and went about 8 feet and it came loose again. Now I am thinking that it is the mount. Maybe the threads in the mount are worn out and the screw cant hold? Also if this helps there seems to be some black grease developing around these screws when I drive. What could that mean? If this sounds like its a mount problem which mount is recommended?

Thanks alot

if your running a losi I might be able to help you out, I made up some motor mounts with small bosses on the bottom that drop into the slots in the chassis to take up the slop and keep the motor straight. I have a couple left. shoot me an email

Does anyone have any experience with the above mount, what would be different about it than the kingz head? Also before I buy a new one does my theory sound correct?

Well, seeing as how you can tighten it I doubt the threads are stripped. You may have an excessive buildup of loc-tite in the threads which will prevent the new loc-tite from actually locking anything.

Take a clean screw and run it in and out of the holes, blow it out real well with compressed air. Get yourself some red loc-tite and reinstall them, give it a little time to dry and then see if you have the same problem.

If this doesn't work perhaps a new mount is in order.

Red loc tite is NOT needed for the motor bolts.

ya I notice that I could not tighten 2 of the screws all the way down so I think it could be the mount.

dynamite ones. When it gets all the way down on 2 of the screws I just keep spinning it and it feels like its still easy to spin so is this an indication of a stripped motor mount hole. Would the new motor moount be a good investment anyways?

yup thanks alot. I think I am going to just get one as I see it will be a good invstment for later anyway. Hopefully this is the problem. Any comments on the blackish grease around the screws when I drive it. Could this be from the hole the screw goes into being dirty?

i believe the black grease is actually aluminum and metal particles from vibrating and with the combo of loctite is what it is... its actually wearing out the aluminum...... weak stock aluminum
