Of course not. No return spring of any type will close a high torque metal geared servo if it sticks open. All one can hope for is that the servo just powers off, then the return spring can do its job. This question came up in the hitec thread, might be worth checking out.

While a spring/rubber band is a good precautionary method. It is not 100% protection.

What about the voltage of a lipo on a AMB personal transponder? Their website lists them as 4-8 volts.

All running OK?

A freshly charged 5-cell NiMH receiver pack is a little over 7v. It doesn't say at that voltage for long, but I haven't asploded anything with it.

I am currently using a 4PK/604, Apogee 2000 pack, with Castle Creations B.E.C./ Reg unit. I like this because the V output is user adjustible with the Castle Link and it can handle 7 amp Cont/10 amp burst. I have mine set for 6.2 V out. I do know of a few around me using a 4PK with Futaba BL servos, no reg and have no problems that I have heard of.

I use cheap HITEC 985MG servos without regulator and they work awesome, been doing that for last 6 months on that servos without problems.

Couple guys here replaced hi priced servos on emergency Futaba 3305 cheap ones unregulated too without problems.
