how to shim the head ?
im new to nitro just got a new o.s.v-spec mod it came with one
extra shim copper and has two on the head one copper and
one silver i will be running 30% fuel do i + a shim or- one or
are thay just a gasket

you mean to tell me that not one of you that have looked at this
post or past it up know how to shim a motor come on help me out
give me a place to start at or some thing

You add shims when going up in the % of nitro and remove shims when lowering the % of nitro.
I don't know how many shims for what fuel though, I use the motor how ever it comes, and I've run anything from 20-30% with no trouble.

I thought you would have gotten some better repies than you did.
For the most part, yes run it as it comes out of the box. Many guys add a shim for break-in and remove it afterwards. There are many other things to consider if your looking to change the preformance of the engine using the head shims.
Shims can alter the clearance between the pistion and the bottom of the head as well as, compression, and ignition timing. It's probably best that you don't remove any shims until you learn much more about nitro engines. However adding the extra shim can help improve some charicteristics of your engine. It can tame (reduce) the power a little, reduce stress on the rod and bearings very slightly, engines seem to rev slightly higher, and get slightly better fuel milage.
There is a lot more to this topic, and before I stick my foot in my mouth, I need to quit and let an expert take over. How's that for a tease?
