Default aftershock vs. raminator vs. savage vs. mgt 3.0

hey guys im new to the forum and nitro rc all together. I recently got a nitro xrc (hasbro junk) and fell in love with the hobby, although the truck only lasted about 3-4 runs and parts are not available at the lhs. i know this truck is junk, so please no flaming. in hasbros defense, they said they will ship me a new unit for the broken old one, which sounds fair to me, but now i got an itch for a real nitro.

the ones i am looking at at the moment at the losi after shock, raminator and the hpi savage. ive done alot of research, but i havent seen any of these in action, so if u guys can help me out with opinions. all unit are used in "new" condition as the owners say. im just gonna bang these up in a local park, at the moment i dont think i will go to the local races with them, but things may change. all i am looking for is a good, reliable truck that will run and start everytime with minimal amount of maintenance

losi after shock - $400 comes with 2 bodies, no glow plug, battery charger or igniter (wondering if my hasbro ignitor will work?)

mgt 3.0 - $250 needs a battery and it sounds like the truck was beat up good since the body is messed, but from what i read, team associated is very reliable. he has a spare control arm, which makes me believe he broke the old one, but i dont think i should be too worried about that since the parts are made to be replaced

raminator - $380 comes with batteries, chargers, glow plug ignitor and almost full bottle of fuel. owner claims only 4 tanks of fuel was used after break in, and this truck is the closest to mint i could find. im kinda leaning towards this one

please no flaming or my truck is faster than yours, cause my dad will kick all your dads asses (lol)!!!!!!! just asking for your experiences with these trucks, and if any arte more prone to break/ harder to fix, ect.

thanks in advance for all replies

I personally wouldn't buy ANY of those used... you can actually get a better truck NEW than those.

Now, none of the ones I am going to list are top-of-the-line... but these will give you some ideas, and some of them are ALMOST race-worthy.

To start with, here are the ones you listed, BRAND NEW:

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/7328
Losi Aftershock, ready to run, $369.99 BRAND NEW and it is less than they want for the used one.

Without knowing WHICH MGT, I can't give you a link, but it is not a good deal...

Raminator:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/20074
$429 new

NONE of those are good options... to start with, I suggest a Truggy instead of a "regular" Monster Truck. They are MUCH more capable, MUCH more durable (even the cheaper ones) and more popular for racing.

Here are some of the "low end" options... there are better ones than these, but these are not really bad:

The bottom end:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/17279
Thunder Tiger stuff isn't bad... especially for that price. Just because it is cheap ($299) doesn't mean it is not durable.

Maybe a little better:

Or this one:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/10615

All of those are under $400, and all of those are much more capable racers AND bashers than any of the ones you listed.

For a few dollars more here are some more options:

The RTR version of the truck I used to race for $509.99
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/33276

I wouldn't even consider a "monster truck" EXCEPT a Losi LST (NOT Aftershock) or Revo.

Also, something different:

I hope that helps!

hey brad thanks for your input! man the price difference between US and Canada are crazy, considering the exchange rate of 1.242 as of today...

the raminator claims to be on the LST platform, is the motor the only difference?

and i heard alot of Traxxas bashing and thats the main reason why its not even on my list, wanted to go Losi or associated (the mgt was a mini 3.0)

my budget is a little tight, and my skills need to be improved. when i get better and can afford to upgrade, i will, most likely to a NEW truggy. its kinda tough finding a deal in canada on these things, and lhs want top dollar out here.

just to give u an idea here are 2 lhs

(i dont have access to post urls being a newb)

bigboyswithcooltoys.ca/product_info.php?products_id=1412

.advancehobbies.com/eshop

the raminator comes out to over $700 to make it rtr out here, and i worked him down to $350, most likely go with that unless it has major flaws. it seems to be equipped with decent stuff for an entry level truck, from what i read.

thanks again!
