Whats eveyrones thoughts on using the disposable lithium batteries in your radio. They are 3 times the cost but do they really last a lot longer than the alkalines.

I run a 2100mah 11.1v lipo in my transmitter

I run out of power... never?

although once it turned on by accident, by the time I discovered it, it was too late and the battery was done, so there went 50 bucks.. now I make it a habit to disconnect it.

lipo all the way for me

Those disposable lithium batteries last forever. Their quite a bit lighter too. I keep a set in my radio battery tray as a back-up to my rechargeable pack. They have a long shelf life too.

For the cost, disposable batteries are never worthwhile. Yes, the lithium's do last forever, but I can still get about 8 hours of time on my Helios with 5 year old rechargeable nimh. For cost terms, thats 5 years worth of batteries for $30, and they're not done yet. The only backup batteries I keep are the Costco cheapies that were only $10 for 50 (they'll last maybe 2 hours ).

I use them in my DX3R and I used them since last July and they are still good. I rather use these batteries that rechargeable ones in my radio. When I need to change them, I just change them. I forgot to charge my battery once long ago and radion crapped out in the A MAIN. since then I use throw aways
