This went from being about $300 dollar shipping to arguing about ebay fees.

And eBay and paypal are fine with their fees..as a seller you have no protection..you a tool..

300 for shipping!!! come on. I love when people try to sell stuff on ebay for half the price but try to make up the difference in shipping.
He is delivering in person, that is why the costs so high. Travel expenses!

You know none of this would be a problem if you went to your LHS. In these days looking some one in the eye and working out the $ #'s is better. Besides, the best bench racing is there, so go there.

Anytime you play w/ numbers it will eventually show up somewhere else, I think the guy is trying to be clever but I Believe in accountability and who knows where this will come back and bite him.....maybe a trade agreement with the manufacturer..... I.R.S. Who knows .I do think he is clever though.

wonder if I can buy it and do a local pick up on the item instead of shipping it. I could save the 300 and drive to him to get it.

I agree with you. This is the part they don't understand or probably could care less about until it actually affects them. Don't waste your breath because it won't matter anyway. You almost sound like a fellow business owner?

One report and Ebay will pull his auction.... not a bad deal at $569, but not smart to circumvent the fees.

That would be a good idea. I work for an airline so I could fly in and pick it up and fly home.

A seller is being dishonest and some people applaud it. But when the seller's dishonesty affects them personally, they get out the pitchforks.

There's another reason to watch for these shipping fee scams. If you file a PayPal claim due to it being damaged, lost in transit, not-as-described, or just plain dissatisfied with the product... the seller gets to keep your $300.

eBay is putting an end to these scams, but it ends up hurting legit buyers and sellers the most. Scammers will find other ways and the cycle continues.

What pisses me off is when ebay sellers charge 20-30 bucks to ship something that weighs a pound or two. Then they dont send it 2-3 priority but 1st class or parcel post. come on!!!!

You nailed it by mentioning the fact that there is no recourse for the shipping fees if the seller bails on the deal. I'm sure his auction will get reported soon enough.

Well someone either bought it or ebay pulled it because it has ended.
